Privacy Policy

Last updated June 24, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how People Make Things (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use omina at https://omina.chat and related services (the “Service”). omina is an anonymous, one-to-one live video chat service. The Service records video and audio of your sessions. Please read this policy carefully. By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Eligibility

The Service is for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to use omina. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. See “Children’s Privacy” below.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Recordings. When you are paired into a call, we record the video and audio of that session and store it. Recordings may capture your image, voice, surroundings, and anything you say or show on camera.
  • Information you submit. If you report another user, we collect the report and information about the session it relates to.
  • Technical & usage information. We and our providers automatically collect information such as your IP address, approximate location, device and browser type, operating system, connection data needed to deliver real-time video, and basic usage and diagnostic logs.
  • Consent records. When you accept the age and recording notice, we store an anonymous identifier, the policy version, a timestamp, your IP address, and your browser user-agent as proof of consent.
  • Cookies & advertising identifiers.We use cookies and similar technologies, including for advertising and analytics. See “Cookies & Advertising.”

omina does not require an account, a name, an email address, or a phone number to use the Service. The identifiers we assign are random and not, by themselves, tied to your real-world identity.

3. Recordings, Moderation & AI

Because omina pairs you with strangers, recording is central to keeping the Service safe. We may use your recordings and related content (including audio) to:

  • operate, provide, and maintain the Service;
  • keep the Service safe — including moderation, reviewing reports, detecting abuse or illegal conduct, and enforcing our Terms;
  • build, train, test, and improve our artificial intelligence and machine learning models and other technology that supports the Service;
  • investigate and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; and
  • comply with law and respond to lawful requests.

By using the Service you consent to being recorded and to these uses of your recordings. If you do not consent, do not use the Service.

4. How We Use Information

In addition to the recording uses above, we use information to:

  • match you with another participant and deliver live video and audio;
  • maintain, secure, debug, and improve the Service;
  • measure usage and understand how the Service is used;
  • show and measure advertising; and
  • protect our rights, users, and the public, and comply with legal obligations.

5. How We Share Information

We share information in these circumstances:

  • Service providers. We use vendors to run the Service — including real-time video infrastructure (LiveKit), cloud storage and hosting (such as Amazon Web Services and Vercel), and analytics and advertising providers (such as Google). They process information on our behalf under our instructions.
  • AI/ML development. We may use recordings and content to develop and improve AI and machine-learning models, and may share content with providers that help us do so.
  • Safety & legal. We may disclose information to law enforcement, regulators, or others when we believe it is necessary to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety, or property of any person.
  • Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We do not sell your personal information for money in exchange for a third party’s own independent use. We do, however, use recordings and content to improve our AI as described above; depending on your jurisdiction, some of these activities may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. Where required, we honor applicable opt-out rights — contact us at privacy@omina.chat.

6. Cookies & Advertising

We use cookies and similar technologies, and we use Google advertising and analytics tags, which may set cookies and collect identifiers, IP address, and usage data to measure and serve ads. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can learn about Google’s practices and opt-out tools at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

7. Data Retention

We retain recordings and other information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy — including safety, moderation, improving our AI, and legal compliance — and as required or permitted by law. We may retain information needed to enforce our Terms, resolve disputes, or maintain security.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Choices & Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete information we hold about you, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, or to ask us to delete recordings associated with you, email privacy@omina.chat. Because the Service is anonymous, we may ask for information to help us locate the relevant recordings (such as the approximate time of a session); if we cannot reasonably link data to you, we may be unable to fulfill the request.

10. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has used the Service, contact us at privacy@omina.chat and we will take appropriate steps.

11. International Users

We operate the Service from the United States and may process and store information in the United States and other countries that may have different data-protection laws than your own. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer and processing.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, re-prompt you to review and accept the updated notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
